2 Peter 1:5-8

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

In this passage, Peter speaks about not becoming ineffective and unproductive, by making sure that we have certain qualities in increasing measure. The interesting point to me was the starting point: faith. In other words, we are all to start from the basis of faith before building up the other qualities like knowledge and perseverance.

For some of us however, we seem to be starting from the basis of knowledge: how much we know about God. Make no mistake, knowledge is important. Yet as Peter mentioned in verse 8, we need more than just knowledge, we also need to build up other qualities, starting from faith.

So as we approach the Youth Camp, pray for your faith to be built up. Pray for specific situations in your life that you are facing right now, that you may have the faith to take the correct choice. Pull out your camp booklet or notes from last year's Camp iFaith and read through them again. Prepare your heart and pray that God will be made real in your own life.

I'm putting up what I shared in Secell last week, for the benefit of those who were not able to join us. I feel that this is an important message for all of our members, and it's also good for those who were there to be able to reference it.

Moving beyond head knowledge and into fullness in Christ

The background to this passage: After wandering the desert for 40 years, Joshua was addressing the Israelites just as they were about to cross the Jordan river into the Promised Land.

Joshua 3:9-11
Joshua said to the Israelites, "Come here and listen to the words of the LORD your God. This is how you will know that the living God is among you and that he will certainly drive out before you the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites and Jebusites. See, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth will go into the Jordan ahead of you.

Why did Joshua have to say "This is how you will know that the living God is among you"? Wouldn't the Israelites have known that God is real? After all, they had lived their entire lives up to that point hearing about how God had sent the 10 plagues, parted the Red Sea, came down on Mount Sinai etc etc.

The reason is precisely because these Israelites had only heard about those miracles and events, and had not actually seen one for themselves. The previous generation had passed away in the desert, because they chose to disobey God. God had Joshua say that line because He wanted them to know that whatever they had known about up to that point was not just stories, but that God was really capable of those things. The first generation that left Egypt had crossed the Red Sea on dry ground, but this generation would also cross another body of water on dry ground as well.

The result was emphatic. The Bible continues to say that the people revered Joshua just as they did Moses. Furthermore, it says in this in the Book of Judges:

Judges 2:7
The people served the LORD throughout the lifetime of Joshua and of the elders who outlived him and who had seen all the great things the LORD had done for Israel.

Up to this point, everything seems to be going well for the Israelites. They had almost finish conquering Canaan, they were prospering and were faithfully serving God. But we all know what happened next in Judges: a repeated cycle of the people sinning and becoming oppressed by a foreign power, a judge coming to rescue them, and the people falling back into sin again. What caused such a dramatic change in the people's behaviour? The answer lies just 3 verses down the same chapter:

Judges 2:10-13
After that whole generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation grew up, who knew neither the LORD nor what he had done for Israel. Then the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD and served the Baals. They forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of Egypt. They followed and worshiped various gods of the peoples around them. They provoked the LORD to anger because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

Subsequent generations of Israelites fell into sin because they knew neither the Lord nor what he had done. Needless to say, they did not experience His great love for themselves.

Many if not all of us in Secell at this point are second-generation Christians, including myself and many of the leaders. Much has been said about second-generation Christians, but first and foremost I want to say that we have been shown amazing grace, to be placed into a Christian family and getting to know the Lord from a young age. Many people will never get the chance to hear the Gospel, let alone come to know Jesus and accept Him as Lord and Saviour.

We second-generation Christians are in many ways similar to the second-generation of Israelites that were about to go into the Promised Land: brought up knowing about what God had done for previous generations, but not necessarily having experienced them for ourselves. We grew up learning about Jesus in sunday school, colouring pictures of Jesus' birth in the manger, memorising bible verses etc. This is perfectly summarised in the familiar sunday school song:

Jesus loves me this I know,
For the Bible tells me so.

We know that Jesus loves us and came to this world to save us, because it is written in the Word. Unfortunately, many Christians continue to remain at this stage of head knowledge about Jesus. When the storms of life do come about, what will happen then? Is your foundation built on only head knowledge? Or is your faith grounded on solid rock?

Isaiah 7:9
...If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.' "

We need so see God real in our lives, both for ourselves and to be able to show the real impact of God’s love in our lives to others!

Ephesians 3:17-19
... And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

The Amplified Bible spells it out more clearly:

Ephesians 3:19
[That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]!

We must therefore strive to lead a life in which the love of Christ is more than just head knowledge, but it is something that we have experienced for ourselves, i.e. we have our own testimony to share. Our faith will then be firmly anchored, and we can be more effective in sharing the Good News to others.

As I shared last week in Secell, we can start by asking God to take control of the situations in our lives that we are facing. There may be a problem in our relationships with family or friends, or we could be facing difficulties in our schoolwork. We need to bring it before God and ask Him to take control. We shouldn't pray in a limited manner, e.g. "God, please change that person", since we shouldn't limit what God can do, but instead trust that He will do what is good. This is where the Word is important, because it teaches us what are the right attitudes and responses to have and God's various promises. So for all the talk about experiences, do not look for them without the Word of God to verify it by!

We also need to identify things in our lives that are not pleasing to God, and humbly confess them and offer them to God. This could be our pride, or a particular behaviour that is not good, since these things can hamper our fellowship with God, by making us feel that we are not worthy of approaching God for help. Remember that God is a doctor, and you go to see a doctor when you're sick, not when you're healthy.

Let us all continue to pray for each other as we all strive to fully know God's love that surpasses knowledge and to be filled unto fullness in Christ!

One Good Deed...

There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, "Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat."

He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that says he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, "Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!"

Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz!".

Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, "You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Susie whispers back, "I wet my pants once too."

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good…
Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Each and everyone one of us is going through tough times right now, but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith! Have a blessed week!

If the residents are comfortable with you, they might ask you to help them pack their wardrobe/room. .. Go with the flow and Be Good!

Over the past two weeks a few of us have been attending a foundational class, and it has been a great blessing to all who went. One of the things that was shared was that often times we feel that even though we are Christians, because we constantly sin we feel unworthy to approach God and this prevents us from worshipping Jesus as we should. We need to recognise this as a lie and be clear that our father-child relationship with God does not change because we sin. The correct order of worshiping God is not to first straighten out ourselves then approach him, but rather it is the opposite:

Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

If we go to see a doctor when we fall sick, why is it that we dare not approach the forgiver of sins when we do stumble?

Romans 8:1
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Let us therefore be reminded that Jesus' great love that covers our sin, and how he desires us to come to him, no matter our state or condition. We started and ended that session of the foundational class with a song, which I felt was really appropriate:

So you would come
Before the world began, you were on His mind,
and every tear you cried, is precious in His eyes.
Because of His' great love, He gave his only Son,
Everything was done so you would come.

Nothing you can do, could make Him love you more,

Since we were on the topic of Renewal of Our Minds today, here's an excerpt that really really blessed me, hope it's the same for you! Taken from Pastor's Joseph Prince's book, Destined to Reign:

"Victory In Your Thought Life

Song of Songs 4:3b
"Your temples behind your veil are like the halves of a pomegranate."

In the Song of Solomon (Song of Songs), Solomon said,"Your temples... are like a piece of pomegranate." The temples are a reference to the head. The bible actually compares your head to a pomegranate (which is quite a funny picture). When you cut a pomegranate in half, you will find that it is filled with white seeds in a beautiful red liquid. When I was in Israel, I was told that the red liquid is very strong - if you get it on your shirt, the stain will be very difficult to remove.

Now, this is a very powerful picture for you to have if you want victory over your thought life. You may be struggling with temptations, lustful and angry thoughts, or thoughts of guilt and condemnation, but the Lord wants you to have victory over these battles in your mind. He wants you to picture your head like a pomegranate (!). The rich red liquid is a picture of the blood of Jesus Christ and the many seeds, your thoughts. The blood of Jesus is constantly washing and cleansing your thoughts. The temptation that you had in your head just now has already been washed away. Your thoughts are under a constant waterfall of cleansing and forgiveness.

When the bible declares in 1 John 1:7 that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, the tense here in the Greek for the word "cleanses" denotes a present and continuous action. In other words, Jesus' blood "keeps continually cleansing". This means that the blood never ceases to cleanse your thoughts. Even right now, your thoughts of guilt and condemnation are being washed away. Angry and lustful thoughts are being washed away. All manner of temptation is being washed away! ...

You cannot stop your flesh and the devil from putting negative thoughts and temptations in your mind. But you can have victory over your thought life by seeing that all your thoughts are continually being cleansed by the blood of Jesus. His redemptive work is your victory over your thought life."

Amen! Truly, through the finished work of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit, "we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." - 2 Corinthians 10:5

PLANETSHAKERS CONCERT - THIS FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone was blessed and recharged from service yesterday! Praise God! I believe God is really bringing our church and our youths through exciting times! Even as Pastor Ronald Ooi was praying for the youths, I really felt the Spirit of God move amongst us. Let us not take this a "good Sunday service" and forget about it, but instead, let us PRESS ON, and continue to YEARN for MORE things. I believe through prayer and our passion (and of course the move of God), we can achieve break-through after break-through. Remember, we can be the 'David' that defeats the Goliath!

So yes, the Planetshakers concert will be a good chance to worship together with fellow believers (mainly youths) from Singapore! Let's see what God is doing in our nation! E-Swordian's will be out in FULL force on....

We just had a wonderful and fun SCC/Secell Camp 2008! God was indeed gracious, to give us good weather throughout and with no incidents for the entire camp. Kudos to the Sec 4s for orgainising a challenging SCC on Sunday, and to all Secellites for their participation for the Secell Camp on the next 2 days. Special thanks also to Syl-vyn, Josiah, Shalom and Issac for their help. Here are some pictures that I took throughout:

Words

Are important. They bring life and also destroy a person utterly. It can go both ways.

Proverbs 15:3-5
3 The eyes of the LORD are everywhere,

but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

Have we been careful with our words? I have to constantly remind myself that words matter, even when they seem trivial. We can lift someone's spirit when we praise them and ruin it by saying something hurtful and careless. So, it is important that we watch our tongue.

What are the words we should speak then?

Kind words.
So then, don't be afraid. I will provide for you and your children." And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.
Genesis 50:21

Words of thanks and praise to God.
He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God."

Words that build others up.
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

2nd Generation Christians!!!

"Someone once said that Christianity is only one generation away from extinction. Second-generation Christians do not seem to share the same zeal and passion as first-generation believers. Young people who grow up in Christian homes tend to take their faith for granted, and never really make a personal choice to follow Jesus. Christianity becomes a family culture, rather than the dynamic faith, the compelling reality that it is."

Does anyone find this familiar?? If you do, excellent. This means that you are reading the 40-day Fasting and Praying book. Its taken from the day dated 30th July. But you are not, then maybe we can start to ask/examine ourselves whether does the above paragraph describe us. :=)

Many of us (myself is not) are 2nd generation Christians. Are we one of those who take our faith for granted?? How many times have we come to church on Sunday, attend service, cell group after service and goes home feeling that we had just wasted your time. Or how many times have we complained about how boring service is or how boring zone time is. Just a thought from myself, is God's words really that boring even though it may not seem to apply to us right now?

I think its time that all of us take time out to examine our purpose of coming to church. If we think that zone/cell time is boring, then let’s think about what can we do to liven up things? Sometimes its not the materials being taught are boring, it is the mindset of us when we come without expecting anything or come simply because we have to that makes the session boring. The worst thing is even before we step into the service hall, we are expecting it to be another boring session. If all of us can come and learn, encourage one another and have fun together, then I believe that the time spent will be worthwhile.

By the way, this post is not only meant for 2nd generation Christians. It's for everyone. If anyone of us has not been praying regularly, then we should start to pray now. These are just some thoughts that came into my mind when I read the passage and I ask that if we do not belong to the category of people then let us pray for those who are that they will begin to experience God and lead a changed life.

As most of you know, I just had my commencement ceremony last Saturday, which officially marked the end of my days as a full time student.

Looking back at the past 4 years, I really have to thank God for His faithfulness and grace. I was never an ace student, more like an average one compared to my peers. Just look at my Sec 4 grades just before the 'O' levels:

So work hard and take heart that whatever results you receive, it is all part of God's plan for you; do not be dismayed even if you get what others consider poor grades. God is faithful, and watches over each and every one of us.

Born to Fly

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."1

Today's Daily Encounter is from the book, Broken Chains, by Doug Batchelor.

A naturalist visiting a farm one day was surprised to see a beautiful eagle in the farmer's chicken coop. Befuddled, he asked, "Why in the world is that eagle living with chickens?"

"Well," answered the farmer, "I found an abandoned eagle's egg one day and laid it in the coop, and a chicken adopted it and raised the creature after it hatched. It doesn't know any better; it thinks it's a chicken." The eagle was even pecking at grain and strutting awkwardly in circles.

"Doesn't it ever try to fly out of there?" asked the naturalist, noticing that the bird never lifted its gaze. "No," said the farmer, "I doubt it even knows what it means to fly."

The naturalist asked to take the eagle a few days for experiments, and the farmer agreed. The scientist placed the eagle on a fence and pushed it off, bellowing, "Fly!" But the bird just fell to the ground and started pecking. He then climbed to the top of a hayloft and did the same thing, but the frightened bird just shrieked and fluttered ungraciously to the barnyard, where it resumed its strutting.

Finally, the naturalist took the docile bird away from the environment to which it had grown accustomed, driving to the highest butte in the county. After a lengthy and sweaty climb to the hillcrest with the bird tucked under his arm, he peered over the edge and then spoke gently: "You were born to soar. It is better that you die here today on the rocks below than live the rest of your life being a chicken. It's not what you are."

Then, with its keen eyesight, the confused bird spotted another eagle soaring on the currents high above the bluff, and a yearning was kindled within it. The naturalist threw the majestic beast up and over the edge, crying out, "Fly! Fly! Fly!"

The eagle began to tumble toward the rocks below, but then it opened its seven-foot span of wings and, with a mighty screech, instinctively began to flap them. Soon it was gliding gracefully, climbing in ever-higher spirals on unseen thermals into the blue sky. Eventually, the mighty eagle disappeared into the glare of the morning sun. The bird had become what it was born to be.2

Hi all, this is my very first post on Secell blog and the 2nd in my entire life.. haha.. Well I guess most of you should be still having exams or is about to finish by now. Weekend is here!! Persevere on. I was sharing on how I get through my University life for the past 3 years and I mention a little on how I cope with my exams. To me the first year of exams for me is a horrid time. I was super stressed up (before & after my papers). I did not share this during my sharing but someone told me (after a year) that my character, things I do was hurting to the person. The worst thing is that I didn't even realize it. I really felt bad after that and of course I apologised. The main reason why I share this is that there are times when the things of the world get to us and we just forget to watch our tongue and actions and now I do my best to think before speaking.

It was after my first semester that I begin to remember what God has promised me in the beginning. Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I always pray to God this thing saying, "God you brought me into this course, I'm going to trust that you are going to bring me out of it." From then on exams to me are just another part of my life. I no longer feeling extremely stressed up (It does not mean I have not stress at all. haha).

Recently I came across this part of the bible which says,
"But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside. I have not departed from the commands of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily bread." Job 23: 10-12
I know that now is the busy period for most of us but remembers to spent time alone with God. It’s a struggle sometimes between studying for the exam the next day. I personally struggled with it before and I can say it’s not easy but is definitely essential.

That’s all for now till the next time I blog again for my 3rd post in my life. “Gambade” (Hope I get the spelling right) for now. Just a few more days to go…

Even as we go through the exam periods, it is good to reflect upon just why are we studying so hard for. As Daniel mentioned during last Sunday's Masterlife session, we should not be too caught up in grades, and instead should just study hard and entrust the results to God. Of course, this is easier said than done; we all worry for our results. It is during such times that this particular verse has helped me:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:6-7

Indeed, the peace of God is a wonderful thing to have during trying times such as exams. Something to note here is that we should present our requests to God with thanksgiving. It's hard to imagine going to God and say: "Thank you God for the exams.", but in essence that's what these verses are saying, that we should be thankful in all circumstances. It's part of the process of renewing our minds, something we just covered last week. So the next time you present your request(s) to God, let's do so with a thankful heart and also with faith, that God will carry us through.

In the midst of one of life's storms, have you ever thought, "God, if You'll just get me through this one, I promise to do whatever You ask of me from now on"?

Though it seems like this is a prayer recited only when we want to negotiate our way out of a sticky situation, it is actually a lot closer to the reality of how our prayers sound when we are in the midst of a crisis. You see, crises often force us to re-examine our purpose in life and to see whether or not we are being obedient to what God has called us to do. They cause us to ask the question, "What am I doing with my life?"

If we are living according to God's will and following His guidance, then we will be reassured of our purpose during a time of crisis. If, however, we are living our lives according to our own purpose and desires, then a time of crisis will stop us in our tracks and make us examine who we are living for. If the answer is anyone except Almighty God, then we need to turn our eyes toward Him, refocus our efforts, and ask Him to clarify His purpose and calling for us.

Makes me wonder, now that many of us are facing exams, or in the midst of a busy schedule at work... What and who are we living for? Are we living for God?

Just a gentle reminder to always put God first, no matter what perils or situations we are facing. =)

Secell enters the second quarter of the year 2007. A year in which we're called to Take Root in Christ, and Reach Out to Others - both individually as well as at a church level. This quarter, after having a successful bridging of some of our new secellites in SCC 2007, Secell will deeply embrace the theme of the Church in the Word, and in Works. Indeed, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the next 3 months will be an exciting time for every young believer in the ministry! :)

As Good Friday and Easter Sunday draws near, I'm reminded of the deep deep love of Christ that compelled Him to the cross for you and I. It can be a funny statement to most people when Christians declare abold, "I love you Jesus!". Well, for starters a large proportion of such proclaimers are males. Jesus Christ, not coincidentally, was also born a male some 2000 years ago. In present day context, where words such as "lame" and "gay" are now such common connotations in everyday conversation, it is easy for one to feel "lame" or "gay" saying such things as "Oh, I love you Jesus." Indeed, from a society's perspective, you are right. It does feel gayfully lame. In an age where love is commonly portrayed by youthful romance, silver-screen sex and catchy songs, it's no wonder why many youths these days shudder to think about the possibility of finding love in Christ. As that just sounds plain jane lame.

Love was more than just a stirring emotion, a sudden adrenaline rush or a heart melting moment for Christ. It was an all compelling feeling for you and I, that flowed from the heart of the Heavenly Father. The bible records that throughout His lifetime, over numerous occasions, He looked at the people and had compassion on them. He healed, He delivered, He restored and He resurrected. He was given the power to do all He could and all He would have wanted for you and I. And in the most painful gruesome fashion, as if to reiterate His everlasting commitment of love for us, He concluded God's salvation plan by taking 3 nails through Himself upon that cross.

In Luke 7:41-43, Jesus told a story about 2 men who were pardoned of their debts to a certain moneylender. One debtor owed him 50 denarii, the other owed him 500 denarii. Who would love the moneylender more, now that both had been totally pardoned? Clearly, the man who owed the moneylender more will be more grateful and love him more in return. The secret to saying that one loves Jesus is not in the psychology, it is in the realization of who we really are and the depth of which we have been redeemed from. The ones who can truly say, "I love you Jesus" will be the ones that have truthfully come to terms with the immense depth of their sins. So do you love Jesus today?

Hello my dear Secellites, hope ya’ll have been learning lots about God from the leaders and your walk with God a close one. I really miss being here, attending Secell, as being overseas and finding a church and a group of people to fellowship with is no easy task. (Just ask Jon Wong) Perhaps, the very first tribulation for me was to stay close to God. Imagine being surrounded by 24 other people every waking moment and most of them are non-Christian. It makes it very easy for me to join them in every activity and just forget about God. I can say that I’ve been tempted to do exactly that, but I thank God that my walk with him is still close. I make sure that I spend at least ½ an hr to 1 hr with him everyday, usually in the morning. These moments with God have tide me through difficult days. I’ve met with some obstacles here, some about school, some with the people I’m with.

I am thankful to God that He has been faithful and been showing me things as I go about life here. This group of people that came with me is a special bunch. A few are Christians. Many are lukewarm Christians and quite a few are backsliders. Some are non-believers, but believe in the existence of God. Therefore, I see this important need of letting them see Jesus Christ in me. So, it is necessary that I draw close to God and get support from my brothers and sisters-in-Christ.

Thanks to my friend, Faye, who came here last year, and introduced me to her Christian friends in Georgia Tech, I don’t feel so alone anymore. At least now, I have a bunch of friends who are really on fire about God.

To sum up my experience, I want to say that fellowshipping and drawing close to God is really important if we want to be victorious in whatever we do. And I believe that God has sent me with this group for the purpose that I may show them Christ. And I pray that I’ll not disappoint Him.

Secell Newsletter Jan 2007

1) New Cell Groups for Inward + Outward growth

And so Tsidkenu, Shammah and M'Kaddesh cell groups are now no more. New Cell groups are now in place and if you're not sure of which cell group you're in yet, check with your previous cell leaders! The new cell groups mean that everyone can grow spiritually and physically with their peers over their years in Secell. Equally important, is the fact that we can all bring our classmates and friends to join our cell groups where the age difference is minimal. With that, our prayer is that we may all edify one another and also spread the gospel more effectively as a small unit. So do take time to dedicate your cell groups to God. How it grows will depend a lot on your prayers.

2) Mission Trip to Bintan

On the 20-21st of this month, Karen, Shalom, Daniel and Samuel will be part of the team going for Missions work at Bintan. It's going to be a packed and exciting weekend for them as they put their time and effort into spreading the gospel in foreign villages. Let us pray for their safety there, and that God may use them mightily in the short time spent in Indonesia with the villagers. We also pray that God will bless them greatly, and that each return with a new purpose for the gospel.

3) Secell Nite 2007

Secell Nite (previously known as Recognition & Appreciation Night) is an annual affair where Secell recognises those who have done exceptionally well various aspects of the ministry. Awards are also handed out and yearly graduates are blessed by the Zone before they move onto SeTT (Zone 2). This year's Secell Night promises to be full of surprises as we dine in style at Lighthouse Restaurant near Lavender MRT Station. You have a date on 27th January! Expect lots of photos, so dress smartly.

And of cos many many informal fun times such as visiting Project Superstar, LAN games, House overnights and more!! All good things must come to an end (at least til the next holidays), but fret not. What was good in 2006 will definitely be better in 2007 because your leaders are more ON FIRE, Secellites are now more ENTHUSIASTIC & PASSIONATE, and our dear pre-believing friends are getting more OPEN to the gospel! Even if we don't see major changes on the surface, God is transforming the things we cannot see through each prayer we make. Because our God is a faithful God, and He will not lie! Praise the Lord! :)

This year, the direction of Secell is for every early teen to do Greatly in both the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Through Evangelism, Exaltation, Edification, Education and Empowerment; we believe every young believer can make a mighty difference in their community for Jesus should they choose to.

Here are the activities for Secell that will kickstart the year 2007 for you and I. Remember to continue reaching out to our friends & family. So let's PLUG IN to God, so we can be the Light of the world and make a "Christian" difference as Christ did!
